Zayn – a play on the word ‘sane’ – which launched in 2013, is the ‘brain child’ of Jarryd Haefele, a graphic designer, living in Sydney, Australia. Stepping into the world of underwear design at 24 years old, he has created a line of undergarments for men that not only support the male anatomy in a fun, flirty, and playful fashion, but also support the community in a unique way.
With the purchase of each item from Zayn, and mind you there are no products about $20.00 so there is no excuse to not stock up, a certain percentage of the proceeds goes to support beyondblue. Beyondblue is an organization in Australia that offers support and counseling to those suffering from depression and anxiety. Why has a concern for mental health touched your heart so?
I’ve been living with depression and anxiety for the last 9 years and beyondblue has really been there for me. I also think it’s important to raise awareness for different ways people can get help, and to also reduce the stigma that’s associated with mental disorders.
How did you get into a love and appreciation for underwear as well as a desire to create you own line?
I’d been wanting to create a clothing line for quite sometime and I just thought underwear was the natural starting point. Hopefully if it takes off, you’ll get to see a lot more Zayn products! Watch this space!
When will you or, do you plan to launch in the US at some point or other parts of the world?
I haven’t officially launched in the US, but I do have a lot of customers in that market with shipping just $14.10AUD. But hopefully if things pick up I will look more into how I can get Zayn Underwear over there at the best possible price!
The Zayn collection consists of briefs, hipsters and, boxers briefs all made from 95% cotton and 5% spandex. All products are made exclusively in Australia. Items can be purchased as singles, or in packs of 3. If you are quick with your shopping on-line you can pick up some of their discontinued items at a great price before they sell out. For you lucky boys in Australia, there is no charge for shipping within the continent.
