Fitness Challenge – Week 1 Update – Greg

Hey guys. I had wanted to get some pics for you to go with this post, but I haven’t had a chance to take any, so I will get some and add them in later on! Promise! I didn’t want to delay my posting talking about our first challenge work out from our Trainer Shaun.

So let’s break it down. I usually do ab work during commercial breaks a few times a week, so I have just adapted this routine into that time instead of ab work. I go for the 15 minutes that is prescribed, regardless of whether the commercials end or not.

you have to be dressed appropriately.

Circuit A was 1)Pushups to Failure and 2)Squats for 60 seconds.

I have never been good at push ups. I can do them, but they’re not something I do regularly and I’m not great at them. Squats on the other hand – got that. My running coach and I have been working on those for a while.

push ups

I started the week only able to do about 30 pushups (average for the 5 sets) or so before I started feel weak in the arms and have to give up. I’m ending the week able to do about 40 (average for the 5 sets) before they start feel like rubber. Squats I can do much better with – I started with about 35 (average for 5 sets) squats in the 60 seconds and a week in I am closer to 50 (average for 5 sets).

Circuit B was 1) Plank for 15 seconds 2) Side Plank for 15 seconds and 3) Bicycle Kicks for 30 seconds. This one was a bit easier, although holding Planks is not as easy as it sounds. I started bicycle kicks at about 25 (average for 5 sets) and am ending a week in at about 35 (average for 5 sets).

Bicycle kicks…

Shaun – this challenge was a great challenge and I can’t wait to keep seeing how I progress with this one! Like I said, sorry there are not pics in this post yet – I’ll take some when I can and add them in!
