Firstly, I’d like to thank Undies 101 for their great site and how well updated it is. For an underwear fan like me it is great to log on each day to see such a wide selection of underwear for guys.
As a kid I was like everyone else and wore the usual tighty whitey style briefs. As I was getting older, into my teenage years, I started to dislike briefs as the seemed pretty old fashioned and a bit childish. This was when boxer shorts were definitely the most fashionable thing to wear. I remember at school in the changing room after sports I was probably one of the last boys to switch to wearing boxer shorts. I remember making that switch and definitely feeling more mature, more of a man than a boy in briefs.
Throughout my teenage years I was happy in my boxers, I liked the freedom they gave in comparison to briefs and I liked the option of wearing boxer briefs when I wanted a more snug pair. When I got to around 18/19 and started university I had opportunity to really start defining how I dressed and this of course included my undies. This was really the first time I had a chance to get designer brands like Calvin Klein as I moved to a bigger town and started reading magazines like GQ and FHM.
As well as getting more into designer brands in my 20s I got back into wearing briefs. I don’t think there was one moment when I made the decision to switch back, but over time I just kept buying more briefs, both high street shops like Marks and Spencers and designer briefs like Calvin Kleins. Being a bit older gave me more confidence in trying different things and I loved being adventurous in trying bikini briefs and I remember the first time I ever bought a thong! For me underwear is all about having fun and wearing thongs, tangas, bright colours – its all about showing you are comfortable in your body and expressing your personality.
I am blogging at the minute and part of it is looking at undies recommendations for guys and girls. I try to be as varied as possible in terms of styles and prices, I think it is important to remember that you can pick up some sexy pants at a bargain price.
The internet has been great both to get in contact with other underwear fans and even more importantly to give a much wider range of underwear. This is probably the best change from growing up in a small town with only a few shops with a tiny underwear selection. The web is fantastic, though I still would like more variety in colour and styles for guys undies but it is definitely getting better!
