@sixfootfiveguy talks about his @MWearNYC custom pieces

Hey guys – a few weeks ago we started this quest with MWearNYC. First we posted our review of one of their jockstraps. We loved it. That review also contained the discount code that’s still good until 15 August – next week – for 20% off (except custom pieces). Then we followed up with a special guest bulge from one of the guys at MWearNYC. Next up was a nice company profile about how MWearNYC got it’s start. This week we’re back with a special piece about one of their customers that have ordered some special custom gear. We’ve got @sixfootfiveguy sharing his MWearNYC custom experience. What made you want to get a custom piece of underwear/swimwear?

I struggled to find something sexy for a larger guy. Often manufacturers don’t take the XL/XXL into account when designing sexier items.

Why did you decide to work with MWearNYC?

I met Matt back when he lived in Chicago years ago and I saw online that he had started to make his own underwear so I hit him up to see if he could help me! 

What was the process like – from concept to design to fittings and the delivery of the finished custom piece?

Very very easy! I was able to be in New York for our initial fitting, with my proportions we were working on making sure the pouch shape cradled just the right way. We got it right on the second time! Now he has my preferences on file and can whip up anything!

What custom piece(s) are you most excited about and why?

I loved my Tom of Finland inspired thong with belt loops that was designed off a postcard from the ToF Foundation. It was a great look for Folsom last year. It was so unique and really was an insured request that got a really great amount of attention. It’s pushes everything up and out! 😉

Tell us your thoughts about the specific pieces/pics that you’ve sent us – how do they make you feel when you wear them, what’s the fit like, the style, etc? (Covered above)

If you could give someone thinking about getting a custom piece of underwear/swimwear advice, what would it be? Definitely have a reference point. Custom isn’t about copying another designers work, but maybe you like X Brand Suit, but wish it was a brief swimsuit instead of trunks. Definitely listen to Matt and he will treat you right!
