CheapUndies Purple Mesh Bikini Brief – Review

Today, I was sent a pair of the Purple Mesh Bikini Brief from CheapUndies. I had not heard of this brand before, so I decided to do some research before trying them on. They began as an overstock company in Richmond, VA, providing out-of-season and undersold underwear. Slowly, they developed their own brand of underwear–all while continuing to keep prices low. Their motto is “We Cover Your Butt For Less”, and I can confirm that they do have some very competitive prices. But, will “cheap” come at the cost of “quality”?

The underwear came in a self-contained package, with a window to preview the contents.

The Mesh Bikini Brief is a style within their in-house brand, and part of a larger line of colors (including yellow, neon green, grey, and over ten other options). This brief is 90% polyamide and 10% elastane, and has a mesh design. The material felt sturdy, and the stitching did not appear to be loose in any spots. I was sent the Purple brief in size Large. I typically wear a size Medium, and was concerned that these might be a bit loose on me. Thankfully, the waistband stayed in place all day, and the pouch and seat of the brief were roomy without being too saggy.

The size sent for review was Large, though I wear a size Medium. Everything still fit well, though the seat was a little loose.

I started my day by incorporating these purple briefs into my work outfit, pairing them with a periwinkle button-up, green chinos, and some patterned socks (with a hint of orange to complete the triad color scheme). These briefs held up well at the office. Whether I was sitting at my desk, taking the stairs, or running errands, I never had any issue with anything sitting uncomfortably, riding up, or falling down.

Because these were mesh, I immediately thought of workout clothes and began wondering if I could take these briefs from the office to the gym. Some previous mesh experiences left me disappointed, but I was pleased with how these managed to breathe. By the time I had disrobed and put my work clothes back on, these already felt mostly dry to the touch. Additionally, as I squatted and lunged, I never had any pinching or unexpected wedgies.

These briefs, especially sized-up, made great gym briefs or would be great for lounging around.

The design does have a couple of drawbacks, It is marketed as having a see-through design, but I tried unsuccessfully to get that effect in multiple different levels of light. Additionally, if you are a guy who happens to produce a lot of pre-cum, these briefs may not be right for you, as the mesh will allow fluid to seep through.

The Undies 101 official rating system is as follows:

  • Flirting Material:  It fits okay, great to wear out for a short amount of time.
  • Hook Up Material:  The fit is much better, sits well and wears well but might not be comfortable for all day wear.
  • Dating Material:  The fit is great, sits well, accentuates the positives and wears really well – suitable for all day wear.
  • Match Made in Heaven:  You love the fit, you love the style, best undies you’ve worn in  years and will be a part of your regular wear.

I would definitely rank a pair of these as Dating Material, as I don’t have too many cons. I wish I would have gotten a pair in my actual size to confirm if I would add these into my regular rotation, but even sizing-up was still a pleasant experience in these.
