So many of us have had our lives turned upside down. So many are working, but in a new normal. Some are just trying to get by day by day and not put too much thought into more than the next hour. As someone who is a believer in routine(s), I’ve been left wondering frequently, what good are routines? Sometimes that is just what good are routines these days, and other times it’s what good are routines in general?
I already know the answer, but it has become a question I focus on these days. To answer the what good is a routine in general question, for me they are definitely beneficial in some aspects of life. For example, as someone who suffers from insomnia and didn’t want to rely on drugs to treat it, I have found a routine around bedtime helps me. My fitness is another area where a routine benefits me, but it was an area I asked what good is a routine when that routine got challenged. I used to get up, go down to the gym in my building and work out and then come back up to the apt to make coffee, shower and get ready for work. When the gym closed – along with gyms everywhere – the benefit of the routine got a bit lost on me. Then I adapted and started doing home workouts and yoga in the morning when I would normally be at the gym.
Blogging is also a part of my routine, and I’ve not been amazing at that throughout all of this, but I’m trying. Yesterday I was in a pair of yellow Andrew Christian Almost Naked briefs and today I’m in this light blue pair of Evolve briefs/bikinis. I love the simplicity of the Evolve briefs, but they’re a bit too big for my liking in structure. So, you’re not alone if you’ve been asking yourself what good and applying that to almost anything these days. We’re all asking ourselves tough questions these days…nobody is alone in that.
