I mean, come on. Prove me wrong. You hear a title like Safety Pins and Love and your mind just goes to Country song, no? Mine does anyway. I hadn’t thought about it that way when I was taking out each pair of briefs to wear this weekend, but the combination of the two into this weekend post, yeah…tug at your heartstrings, finding your guy kind of song.
On Saturday, with a first day back into the building gym for some epic cardio and then potential for a movie, I wanted something fun, and after my shower I pulled out these safety pin briefs from Andrew Christian. I enjoy the pattern, and even the mesh, but they are symbolic of what’s happened to AC, at least for me, over the last few years. There’s that bit where the back and front are sewn together. A good company or a good pair of briefs and you wouldn’t be able to tell where that was when you’re wearing them. A company that is just phoning it in, or isn’t checking on quality control or has perhaps given up because they’re just mass marketing at this point equates to exactly what these briefs do- they dig into my legs at the seam where front and back meet. I had to peel them off halfway through the afternoon it was so bad!
Sunday I leaned into love in this brightly coloured striped pair of briefs from AC again. They are super comfy and less bothersome than yesterday’s pair, and I have loved having them on all day. Today’s pair aside, I have found more and more recent AC undies leave me with the same feeling as the safety pin pair. That’s contributed to me not buying from them in well over a year now. Probably closer to two. Damn, has it been that long and they still dominate my collection. That’s just not right.
