So I’ve been watching a LOT of Project Runway reruns lately, and one thing they continuously emphasize is that it is all about construction. The construction of garments for both wear-ability and comfort. The most recent season I watched there was a lot of sewing and gluing models into their garments, which doesn’t make for great construction.
I recently wrote about Nike briefs that I had seen in a shop in the UK and then purchased online in the states since they were cheaper. I will admit to being a bit confused when I first took the briefs out of the box, the construction on them is unlike any other briefs I’ve owned.
They are full briefs, with a full front and back and yet, they get narrower and narrower as they get to your taint area. I’ve never seen construction on briefs like that before and it was odd. I wasn’t sure what to think of them at first, but threw on the first pair and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised.
While I’m not a huge fan of full briefs, these are really very comfortable and easy to wear. I am hoping that once washed, they will shrink a bit and not quite be so tighty-whitey and diaper like. Despite the odd way the crotch area is constructed, they thinning of that area and the elastic make them very easy to wear, and they don’t bite into you as so many other briefs do in that area.
