Hello all! I hope that everyone is doing well and getting their summer off to a GREAT start!! I know that I have regardless of the crazy approaching storms.
I would like to share with you an underwear review that I just conducted over the course of the day yesterday. I spent half the day sporting the new AussieBum Spartacus hipster trunk in Red. It is one of the new colorful and eye-popping lines from the great designers “down-under” in Australia. I would like to start by thanking the great group at AussieBum for supplying myself and the other bloggers the great underwear and swimwear to review. You will continue to see a number of reviews over the next few weeks in regards to AussieBum gear.
Since it is the summer and here in DC the weather can get very hot and humid at time my “everyday” motto of “less is more” is even more important. With that said the Spartacus trunks are a great fit for that mindset. They are comfy and short and just scream summer time! In additional to the style of the trunk itself being perfect for the summertime, the trunks have a unique/custom waistband print that is unique to each of the three colors available. Something totally worth checking out on the website.
The material is comfortable as is the waistband. So overall they “feel” great. However for a guy of my “curviness” the fit left something to be desired. The trunk itself wasn’t all that bad. Since the trunks are a bit shorter than a full trunk or boxer-brief style they are more prone to ride up a bit since my thighs are beefier. Which in itself, isn’t really an issue. I didn’t notice it and wasn’t bothered by it at all. But the real issue was with the sizing overall. I had determined a while back that usually with AussieBum I need to sport an XL size, that is what I was reviewing in the Spartacus trunks. The waistband is too big. My legs and ass fit fine but my waist is a bit too small for the trunks so they don’t hug well and after a while the trunks are sliding down a bit.
Which would make me believe that a size large would be the fix but then my ass wouldn’t fit into the trunks and I wouldn’t have full coverage. And lets face it, if I wanted to show my ass i would sport a jock or a thong (which is what I wear most of the time). If I am wearing a trunk or a brief I am looking to have full coverage not partial.
As a reminder of our rating system:
Flirting Material: It fits okay, really great to wear out for a short amount of time.
Hookup Material: The fit is much better, sits well and wears well, but might not be comfortable for all day wear.
Dating Material: The fit is great, sits well, accentuates the positives and wears really well – suitable for all day wear.
Match Made in Heaven: You love the fit, you love the style, best undies you’ve worn in years and will be part of your regular wear.
So if I was to give the Spartacus Hipster Trunks a rating based on the rating system above, I would have to say “HOOKUP MATERIAL”. They wear well but if you are like me and your legs and ass require a bit larger size but your waist doesn’t they you will find yourself adjusting all-day long to keep them up and on your waist instead of sliding down.
But there are many guys out there are are NOT me so if you love the color and style as well as the very COOL and FUN waistband art then you should head over the the AussieBum website and take a look at these fun summertime hipster trunks.
