wrapping paper…

when I was a kid, until the time I graduated from High School my family owned a few small sporting goods stores. I can remember working in them from the time I was very young…I started out collecting garbage for my grandfather…the scraps of paper and pen caps, gum wrappers, etc that the salesfolk would leave around behind the counter and in the shoe area…nothing major. We sold everything from sneakers to skis and toboggans. That meant we wrapped everything. When the stores closed, we had some wrapping paper left over and my dad brought two big reams of it home. We’re talking thick as tree trunk tubes of wrapping paper. Every year since, there’s been at least one gift (or two or four) wrapped in the damn stuff. We’re all sick of seeing it, but my dad refused to throw it away, it was still useful after all. It’s become a running joke, since the stores closed 20 years ago, this year. My dad wrapped one last present with what was left of all of it this year…the end of an era.

here’s the Snowman Aussiebum undies I’ve had myself wrapped in all day…
