Fitness Challenge : Achoo!

Hey all,

Sorry about the delay this week. The seasonal flu / colds / allergies finally found me, and I’ve been under the weather the past few days. Suffice to say I’m very thankful for steam rooms and over the counter medications. Wait, that may have come out wrong.

If you’re feeling under the weather, the last thing you want to do is work out. However, research shows that getting your heart rate up, just a little, actually helps many of the body’s healing processes. Now, that’s not to say to go run a marathon, or do try your maximum chest press, but a light workout where you elevate your heart rate a bit can really help overall recovery.

In that spirit, today I did a warm up jog followed by a weightless workout. My goal was two fold – to get that moment when you start to feel yourself sweat and to increase blood flow to my major muscle groups. So I did three sets of the following; ten push-ups, ten lunges, ten weightless squats, ten inverted rows, and six pull ups. Again, not the most challenging workout I’ve done, but that was not my goal.
