Stepping Up for February!


Hey all!
Happy February! At this time of the year, the New Year’s resolutions often go by the wayside, the gym clears out, and people don’t consider health and fitness till about April – when they realize that beach season is right around the corner. So instead of falling prey to the February fallout, this month’s challenge is all about Stepping Up!
As last month’s poll showed, you all are interested in better butts and bulges. Sadly, I cannot help much with the bulge, but we can work on the butt. The “step up” exercise is one of the best exercises for tightening and accentuating the butt.
Your challenge is to do the following circuit 5 times.
1.       Step up with the right leg on the box as many times as you can
2.       Step up with the left leg on the box as many times as you can
3.       60 second rest.
Start off with just bodyweight, then move to bringing the opposite knee up, then try it with weight in your hands. Your aim is to do at least 15-20 reps per leg the first time through the circuit. Ideally you will use a platform where the knee forms a 90 degree angle, but if you need to put the platform lower to start, that works. I would suggest against having the platform higher – it puts a bit of extra strain on the knee, and we don’t really need that.
