Judging weight…in my luggage and myself…

I travel alot – as regular readers will definitely know. I’ve gotten really good at judging weight. By picking up my suitcase I’m usually pretty good at figuring out what the weight is, and whether I’m over, close or under weight for a flight. I’ve also gotten pretty decent at judging my own weight when I travel. That has less to do with picking myself up, and more to do with the way my clothes fit. That’s been a good guide for me for a long time now. If the jeans I packed seem tight, I’ve put on weight. If they seem a bit loose, I’ve lost a bit and if they fit about the same, I’m – you guessed it – about the same.

It lacks the accuracy of a scale, but when those aren’t abundant you do what you have to do. This is my way of helping myself stay on track. Dress pants and underwear are a good gauge, but they’re not as good as a pair of jeans. Denim doesn’t give in the same way. The thighs, the calves, the waist, they all conform to your body over time, so they don’t give as much as a pair of dress pants or the elastic waistband on your briefs. Today, I’m traveling down to London for a night at Heathrow before I take a really long haul flight to LA tomorrow. I’ve condensed the luggage as much as I can so as to not have as much to get onto the train, but still feel like there’s too much. Not much I can do with an 18 day trip though. In a fun pair of bright pink Andrew Christian briefs though – great Almost Naked pouch.
